About webrank
webrank is built and operated by a small European data company that does domain intelligence for a living. The open rank exists because we needed a trustworthy popularity + authority signal ourselves, found that the standard (equal-weighted composites) was measurably improvable, and decided the improved version is worth more to everyone — including us — published open than kept private.
Neutrality — the part that matters
- Rankings are not for sale. No domain can pay to rank higher, be added, or be removed
(short of legal requirement). There is no "premium listing".
- The method is the arbiter. Weights are derived from public data by a
published procedure — if you disagree with a rank, you can trace exactly which sources produced it (ranks in every API response).
- Funding: webrank is funded by our commercial domain-intelligence work, not by the
ranked domains. No ads, no affiliates on this site.
- Corrections: if you believe a rank is wrong (not just unwelcome), mail
[email protected] with the domain — the fix, if any, will be in the method or the source data, never a manual override.
What we take from you
Nothing. No key, no account, no tracking beyond standard web logs (Cloudflare). The data flows one way: from us to you, CC-BY 4.0.
The stack, briefly
Eight public sources + the Common Crawl graph, fetched on their own cadences into ClickHouse; weights re-derived monthly; rank recomputed daily; frozen snapshots on the 15th (updates). Lists mirror to GitHub; clients:
pip install webrank (Python).
